Larisa, 27 June 2009 – The 4th Surgical Symposium of Central Greece was held in Larissa from the 26th to the 28thof June 2009. Professor Dr Linos, who was invited speaker and chairman at the round table on «Modern views of the surgery of thyroid – adrenal endocrine glands», analyzed the subject «The Position of Retroperitoneal Laparoscopic Adrenalectomy».
The 4th Surgical Symposium of Central Greece took place in the conference rooms of the Larissa Imperial Hotel, with the collaboration of the Greek Society of Surgery and Clinical Surgery, University of Thessaly. During the conference, a wide range of topics concerning surgery were discussed and the most modern views on various surgical issues were presented. The speakers who participated in the conference included important scientists, both foreign and Greek.
Professor Dr Linos presented the method/technique of retroperitoneal laparoscopic adrenalectomy, focusing on the presentation of data from the study conducted by his surgical team, titled “Posterior retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy in large adrenal tumors: A comparison to the standard anterior laparoscopic technique”. The results of the study argued that the technique appeared safe and quick, required shorter hospitalization and caused less pain.
