With great success, the 17th International Postgraduate Course in Endocrine Surgery was organized from May 31st through June 2nd of 2018 by the International Society of Endocrine Surgery (IAES) in collaboration with the 5th Surgical Clinic National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Director of which is Professor of Surgery Dr. Dimitris Linos.
Invited speakers to the conference, which was held at the historical building of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, included distinguished academics and endocrine surgeons from 12 different countries of Europe, America, Asia, and Australia. President of the Organizing Committee of the conference was Dr. Linos, who has served as President of the International Society of Endocrine Surgery (IAES) in the past.
Among the internationally renowned Professors were: Quan-Yang Duh (USA), Geoffrey Thompson (USA), Keat Cheah (Singapore), Peter Goretzki (Germany), Chen Hsen Lee (Taiwan), Akira Miyauchi (Japan), Bruno Niederle (Austria), Fausto Palazzo (UK), Janice Pasieka (Canada), Allan Siperstein (USA), Mark Sywak (Australia) and Jan Zedenius (Sweden). Distinguished Greek professors participated in the faculty of the course, including Maria Alevizaki, George Chrousos, Leonidas Dundas, Ioannis Koutelidakis, George Zografos, Theodosis Papavramidis.
The conference was addressed to new surgeons as well as university students and young scientists who are interested in Endocrine surgery. Dr. Linos held two lectures on the subjects “Debate: Adrenalectomy for High-Risk Tumors: Laparoscopic vs. Open” and “Work for adrenal incidentaloma”.
